Yesterday, the Progressive Caucus officially submitted a comment on Regulations.gov opposing the recently released Notice of Proposed Rulemaking that would enact a domestic “gag” rule and block women and families in New York City from accessing critical health care they depend on. The Progressive Caucus stands with our colleagues in government which include 14 governors, 80 mayors, over 200 members of Congress, 274 state legislators, and numerous local elected leaders throughout the country who have publicly opposed the gag rule. In NYC, about 150,000 individuals receive services from Title X organizations each year. The Caucus asks that Health and Human Services fully evaluate the burden this rule poses to the thousands of New Yorkers who depend on unbiased care the Title X program provides.
